Dublin City Council have voted against a debate regarding the crime crisis currently engulfing the country.

Last month, Sidestream News reported the exclusive story about an ongoing threat made by ISIS against Ireland's St. Patrick's Day parade. The story was subsequently followed up by Gript but has been unreported elsewhere in Irish media.

On Monday, Councillors Malachy Steenson and Gavin Pepper brought forward a motion to discuss this and other incidents in the capital.

"I brought a topical issue to the council, for a topical issue to be discussed, it needs the consent of the majority of the councillors," Cllr Steenson said.

"The motion was quite simple, debate the current crime crisis. Particularly in light of the near murder of 3 or 4 people in the last couple of days.

"The vote was 46-12; 46 councillors claiming to represent the people of Dublin, refused to even debate the crime crisis in this city.

"That speaks for itself. They are so afraid of the truth getting out there to people. People can just look at the crime in this country in the past week alone.

"We had a guy from Switzerland charged with murdering his father, we had two Ukranians who pleaded guilty to 157 million pound worth of cocaine, we had 14 million of cocaine found, a woman stabbed in Cork today, we had the people stabbed in Aughrim Street at the weekend, a man killed with a single punch.

"A year ago, we had a man who blew himself up in a hostel in Green Street (we think Lithuanian) with an IED, there has been no discussion of what he was going to do with that.

"A guy refused asylum recently drove a car into Henry Street. Dublin City Council tonight has said 'we don't care about the crime crisis, we aren't even going to discuss it.'

'A Labour TD said the people were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Somebody standing in their own doorway is not in the wrong place at the wrong time!" said Cllr Steenson.

Cllr Pepper added: "It's an absolute disgrace. All we wanted was to have a debate on the crime crisis in this country. Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan admitted Interpol are investigating a possible terrorist attack on the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

"When we asked for this, they refused it and as we walked out -particular parties Sinn Fein, People Before Profit made smarmy comments - cowards- they had a round of applause when we were gone, so they were celebrating the fact that they didn't have to talk about the incidents. It is shocking and shameful."

Cllr Steenson said "Also we had a man caught with child porn again escape with no jail time, we saw thankfully a man apprehended by concerned parents in the Phoenix park as he prepared to rape children."

"Suspended sentences for pedophiles and they would rather bury their heads in the sand," Cllr Pepper added.

After the Sidestream News' exclusive story about the ISIS threat against Ireland, it was announced that Europol were conducting an operation due to the terror warning.

"ISIS-K has managed to mix some individuals into the flow of migrants," said Thomas Renard, Director of the International Centre for Counterterrorism.

The terrorist outfit operates two migration "corridors" according to Renard, one through Turkey and the other through Ukraine.

Some militants are "mixed into the flow" with other individuals, he added.
